Madness are an English pop/ska band from Camden Town, London, that formed in 1976. As of 2009, the band have continued
to perform with their most recognised lineup of seven members, although their lineup has varied slightly over the years.
They were one of the most prominent bands of the late 1970's 2 Tone ska revival. Madness achieved most of their success
in the 1980's. Both Madness and UB40 spent 214 weeks on the UK singles charts over the course of the decade, holding the
record for most weeks spent by a group in the 1980's UK singles charts. However, Madness achieved this in a shorter time
period [1980-1986].



'The Liberty Of Norton Folgate' [the title referring to a street that connects Bishopsgate with Shoreditch High Street
in London] is the ninth studio album by the British band Madness, released on May 18th 2009. The band worked on the
album for close to three years and is their first album of new material since 1999's 'Wonderful'. The band showcased a
number of songs from the new album during three concerts at London's Hackney Empire in June 2008. Clive Langer and Alan
Winstanley, who have worked with Madness on all but one of their albums, are the producers. 'The Liberty Of Norton
Folgate' reached No.5 in the UK album charts on 24th May 2009, their highest charting studio album since No.7 in 1981.
The album also charted at No.1 on the UK independent album chart. 'Dust Devil' is the lead single from the album,
released on of May 11th 2009, precisely one week before their new album was due for release. The single reached No.64 in
the UK singles chart and No.1 in the UK Independent music chart on May 17th 2009. The music video for 'Dust Devil'
features Jaime Winstone [best-known for playing Becky in the gritty film Kidulthood and playing Kelly in the E4 horror
series Dead Set] together with her boyfriend Alfie Allen [the younger brother of Lily Allen].
