Met de meest geliefde personages aller tijden en muziek die bekroond is met een Academy-Awartd volgt het heldenavontuur van Disney het verhaal van Simba, een onrustige welp die gewoon niet kan wachten tot hij koning is. Simba is op een dwaalspoor gebracht door zijn ambitieeuze oom Scar en leid een zorgeloos leven met zijn hilarische met gezellen Timon en Pumbaa, waardoor hij zijn koningklijke verantwoordelijkheden vergeet. Maar het lot roept hem en wanneer de tijd daar is, moet hij besluiten om terug te keren naar het koninkrijk en zijn plaats in de kringloop van het leven opnieuw innemen.

A young lion prince is born in Africa, thus making his uncle Scar the second in line to the throne. Scar plots with the hyenas to kill King Mufasa and Prince Simba, thus making himself King. The King is killed and Simba is led to believe by Scar that it was his fault, and so flees the kingdom in shame. After years of exile he is persuaded to return home to overthrow the usurper and claim the kingdom as his own thus completing the "Circle of Life".
